The small witch Curadina

A witch, a forest, a story to uncover…

How superstitious are you? On the Seiser Alm, between the alpine meadows and the mysterious Bosch Curasoa, Curadina, the little witch, appeared. Do you believe in her?

Curadina is part of the legend surrounding Hotel Tirler, like the ancient tales of the Seiser Alm. For centuries, stories of magical creatures have filled this land: head witches on Puflatsch, devilish dances on the Schlern, and storms controlled by spells. But Curadina was different.

Young, kind, and curious, she turned away from the dark deeds of old witches. Drawn to the Bosch Curasoa, the forest behind Hotel Tirler, she embraced freedom—until one day, she felt eyes on her. A whisper, a rustle…

It was Emma, the owl who has stayed by her side ever since. Together, they roam the sulfur springs, known as the witches’ springs. Follow the winding forest paths from Hotel Tirler, and perhaps you’ll catch a glimpse of them.

A tip: head to the sulfur springs. The two roam around there. We call them the witches’ springs. The path leads from Hotel Tirler on winding paths through the forest right to there.

The magical path: Barefoot to the witches’ springs.

Hannes Rabanser envisioned reviving the forgotten sulfur springs, steeped in legend. Long ago, witches guarded these pure waters, enchanting them into sulfurous springs when disturbed by humans.

Together with Hans Mitterrutzner, a longtime Seiser Alm resident, Hannes created the Witches’ Trail. Using only natural materials, they crafted a path following energy points, preserving mosses and lichens, and encouraging barefoot exploration.

No signs mark the way—just the Celtic symbol for the number three. “People should find their own way,” says Hans. The trail invites you to reconnect with nature and uncover the magic of the sulfur springs.

Number three: And everything changes in better….

Hannes Rabanser believes in the magic of the number three—life’s perfect triad. Curadina, Emma and the witches’ springs and nature path form such a trio.

For Hannes, the number three symbolizes balance and harmony, a principle woven into the experiences at Hotel Tirler and the mystical Seiser Alm.
